About me
Hi, my name is Mauricio. I live in Chile but I was born in Colombia. I arrived to this country when I was 7 . Actually I 'm 19 years old. I'm minor (ww) (mw)classmates because I went to Kinder grade when I was 3, I was very smart at that time. I study geography at the University of Chile, I'm in the 8th semester(P), it was not my favourite career at the begining (WWO)but now I'm very pleased whit it. I live in the district of Maipú at the south west of Santiago, in a very poor zone. I took a long time in coming to college everyday. I live whit(WS) my mom Myriam and my twin brother Martín, (MW)he is studiying at college too. I like to play bass guitar and I have a band with my brother and two more pals, (P)we play often in some little bars or in a(EW) different places, whit some other bands of similar type,(P) I have much fun playing with my friends, everybody (WW)drink a lot, and I pass(WW) a really good time. Geographer for by chance ............. but, ..............
The future is of (ww)Geographers ......
Well, the true (ww) is that I began to (ew) studying geography after I took twice the PSU test(wwo). Initially I want (ww)to study journalism and the career of geography I put it in third option (wwo), but I didn’t reach the points for (ew) to study journalism and (ww)I began to studying(wt) geography. In the beginning, (mw) was very difficult and I felt that I was in the (ww)mistake (wwo)career and almost everyday I thought in (ew)to change (ww)of career,(p) but with the course of(ww) the time I realized that I was searching I had found in the time that was going in the career of geography(wwo)(p) so(p) in the present I project myself in the future such as geographer(wwo) maybe mixed (ww)some elements of the two careers. Well, if you question (ww)me how I will meet(ww) in ten years more(p) I think that working in the National Geographic magazine(p) writing articles about physical geography and with a lot money, jaja I hope for it.(ww)I think that the(ew) geographers have a lot(mw) tools and knowledge for(ew) to face the various problems that exist (ww)(p)because in the present the world needs people with a humanist and scientific vision. But I see (mw) there are some elements that are absent in the formation of (ww)the geographers such as the way of communicating orally and of written form(wwo),(p) to do (ww)studies and investigation (ww) with scientific base, but for especially(ww) we have a commitment with the(ew) society, with the (ew)persons(ww), (mw) with the (ew)humanity……

About Me and my Family
Hi my name is Catalina, I’m 21 years old,(P) I live with my mother and my sister, we lived (wt) in Santiago since 2005, when I entered to University(wwo). Before we lived in many islands of the Chiloé Archipelago of Chiloé, because my father worked with the aquaculture(wwo). Now my father is living in Puerto Aysén southern(ww) than Chiloé, and have a new little(ww) family with Paty, his new wife, and Bastián my little brother, he is 2 years old.My mother was(wt) a obstetrician, but while we lived(wt) in Chiloé she didn´t work because there was( wt) no hospitals, and the city was faraway(ws) from the island. But when we arrived to Santiago in 2005, she decided (mw)study again at the University and entered (ww) to Catholic University of Chile and studied Nursery, (p) she only studied while(ww) two years because the University (mw)approved some subjects from(mw) the Obstetrician career. Now she worked (wt)in the Sótero del Rio Hospital in Santiago(wwo).My sister is 18 years old, and this(ww) is the last year at the (ex)school, and she is deciding what career(mw) study(p), but she is very confused,(p) I think that(mw) will be better If she will use (wt) the(ew) next year to think and be safe(ww). About me, I´m studying Geography in (ww)the University of Chile, and this is (wt)my fourth year,(p) I`m very happy with the career and I hope to get the bachelor at(ww) the end of (mw)year, and join the laboral(ws) market soon. My hobbies nowadays(ew) is(wf) go(wt) out of the city as periodically (ww)as I can, (ww)to the Mountains, rivers, or beach.

"Typical mistakes"
After reading the last posts of the three students, I can say that in general they commit the same grammatical errors as their previous posts.
Mauro’s post is very well written but as I noticed before it contains wrong word (WW) and also in his last post it contains wrong word order (WWO).
As I said in my last post, Catalina is very good at descriptions. She wants to express many things and she does but not in an appropriate way. She commits the same grammar mistakes as wrong word (WW), wrong tense (WT) and also many punctuation mistakes. Maybe this last point attempts directly in the way that she wants to express herself. Her ideas are not well order because in some cases she uses a comma instead of a period or the other way around.
David’s post has the same kind of errors. Most of them are related with word order (WW). This problem usually happens because students tend to translate what they want to express themselves. However, in this post I could notice more grammatical mistakes as wrong tense (WT), and also David’s ideas are not well expressed because he has many punctuation mistakes (P).
The three different students tend to commit the same error. In general their posts contain wrong word order (WWO), as I said before the problem lies in the idea of translation (Spanish-English).
In my personal opinion, the most difficult thin to correct is punctuation. First of all, because I also have punctuation problems in Spanish Also because in same cases we have to change almost all the text to make it sense.
I think that the only solution to improve student’s writing is to read and read the final paper, many times as possible, until it makes sense to you. Using a dictionary is always a good support to be sure that you are spelling is correct and that you are using the correct word.
